Yichuan Zhu

Yichuan Zhu is post-doctoral fellow in Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS). He specialized in using quantitative methods such as machine learning, Bayesian techniques, spatio-temporal simulations to solve applied Earth science research problems. He has been participating in several interdisciplinary projects including using high-resolution satellite imagery and artificial intelligence to monitor Arctic ecosystems, in particular coupling Bayesian network and GIS technologies to evaluate social, economic, and environmental impacts of climate change and possible interventions. Outside of academia, he has worked as a civil engineer for several infrastructure projects, including the highest tailing dam worldwide, and risk assessment of tunneling construction in urban areas. He received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, and B.Sc. and M.Sc. from China University of Geosciences.
