Nicole Marks

Nicole Marks has experience in emergency and disaster management at the local and state level as well as experience with non-governmental organizations and the private sector with a previous professional background in New York State. Nicole found her passion for disasters while serving with AmeriCorps (State and National/NPRC) working at the American Red Cross in Greater New York. Now working to achieve a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Kentucky along with a Graduate Certificate in Appalachian Studies. Her research interests include disasters, Appalachia—particularly Eastern Kentucky—vulnerability, environmental justice, arts-based approaches to disaster recovery, and climate resiliency.
