M. Royhan Gani

Dr. M. Royhan Gani is a professor of Geological Sciences in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Atmospheric Sciences at Western Kentucky University. Currently, he is deeply involved in teaching an undergraduate course called Earth’s Climate in Time, where he enjoys exposing students from varied disciplines to Earth’s past climate changes, the present state, and what these mean for the future of our planet. He has been conducting research on paleoclimate in various parts of the world, including East African environments during hominin evolution, and late Cenozoic climate change in the Himalayan foreland basins. In collaboration with other scientists, he uses techniques of compound-specific and multi-system isotopic study (δ18O, δ13C, and δD) of lipid biomarkers, GDGT paleotemperature, and paleoaltimetry.
