Justin Klassen

Dr. Justin Klassen is Associate Professor of Theology & Religious Studies at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. He received his B.A. in Humanities from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Religious Studies from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Among other subjects, Dr. Klassen regularly teaches an upper-level course on theology and environmental ethics, in which he explores the relationship between religious and scientific accounts of nature and the role of religion in both generating and responding constructively to ecological crises. His research focuses on the sources of modern human alienation from the natural world. Apart from teaching and writing for scholarly audiences, Dr. Klassen has given public lectures on issues ranging from contemporary shifts in America’s religious landscape to the meaning of Christian ethics in light of eco-crisis.
